Le Jardin Greta Koetz

On a piece of land, a band of fanatics sees its existence shaken by the return of one of their own, Marie, who is pregnant and thinks she is the Virgin. The days go by for them, sometimes full of worry, sometimes blissful. Their actions and their words become the parables of an unusual gospel, with rabelaisian accents, both grotesque and imperfect.

In this fable, we meet a Virgin Mary grappling with a bottomless melancholy, a writer who writes no more… the lost, who seek meaning in their existence, their stories of debt, of redemption; their sacred songs, their bawdy songs. The sound of their children at play. We’ll borrow as much from Flemish painting as from Patrick Dewaere, as much from the myths of Christianity as from 1970s Italian cinema. And as much from Thus Spoke Zarathustra as from The Life of Brian.
