What's great about the iconic actress Jeanne Balibar is her way of moving forward, both in film and in theater, without ever forgetting her commitments.
This is reflected in Les Historiennes, a historical journey, a portrait of three women in struggle and a declaration of affection to three high school friends who have become historians. For her first solo creation, Jeanne Balibar surrounds herself with historians Charlotte de Castelnau-L'Estoile, Anne-Emmanuelle Demartini and Emmanuelle Loyer to give voice to the slave Páscoa Viera in 17th century slave-owning Brazil, to the patricide by Violette Nozière in 1930s France, and to the actress and activist Delphine Seyrig in the post-68 art world.
In the course of three investigations, three writings and three eras, the sisterhood is overwhelming and enlightening, as it provides weapons to fight against inequalities today.
