Pôle de mutualisation
de services & ressources techniques
Creating theatre, dance, and live shows involves scenery, spaces, materials, money, creations, know-how, experience, risk-taking and interchange. But these days, this also generates a great deal of waste, losses, trash, scenery with only a short life, and there is little re-use or recycling.
It was in the face of these economic and environmental challenges across a whole sector, that the idea of a technical sharing resource was born. The principles underlying this entire project include sustainable design (rational use of spaces, incorporating renewable energy into the operation of the hub, use of sustainable, local materials, recycling materials, etc.); rationalisation of costs (new organisation for work, and synergies to improve optimisation and sharing of resources and skills); and social responsibility (creating local jobs, stimulating regional economies, improving skills and professional development, etc.).
More than just a powerful tool, the Pôle de mutualisation is also a training centre, for preserving and passing on knowledge, as well as for gaining new techniques. It also aims to be a Research and Development centre, to encourage the development of new stage languages and new skills.
Establishing this virtuous dynamic circle among the various fields requires the project partners to be actors themselves. Each one is invited to contribute to the project (hiring storage facilities, providing tools, setting up training, sharing skills, etc.) and in return, to benefit from the available resources offered free or at low costs that are shared among them. In this way a unique, multi-use space is being co-created, a fabric woven in the interests of the greatest number. Values are passed on, any urgent change can be realised, and artistic responses find their consistency. It is an example that will contribute to changing practices, in order to make them less competitive, more mutual and responsible.
