He is alone near an empty bed, in the middle of boxes filled with pieces of fabric on which are written words in Arabic. “Our head is a box full of boxes.” In each one a different thing: an event, a sound, an odor, pieces of life…
Mokhallad Rasem has been collecting personal notes for twenty years: he notes down daily images that appear in his dreams, memories that pop up and impressions that tumble into his imagination from everyday reality. Between an empty bed and boxes full of memories, Mokhallad Rasem expresses deep thoughts and intense emotions, sometimes still observations and surprising fantasies. And all this for the first time in his mother tongue, Arabic.
Journal d’un lit vide is a poetic invitation to think about the passing of time, about distance and intimacy, about having to say goodbye and start over again.
