BCUC

Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness

Composed of seven musicians from Soweto, BCUC has mesmerised local and international audiences with its indigenous funk and energetic performances that have quickly made it one of South Africa's most successful musical exports. BCUC offers a contemporary voice to the ancestral traditions of indigenous peoples. The jazz sounds of 1970s and 1980s productions are replaced by hip hop influences and punk rock energy. Taking its audiences on an intriguing epic journey, BCUC addresses the harsh realities of the voiceless. The group exploits the elusive nature of the spiritual world of the ancestors from which they draw inspiration. The Africa depicted by BCUC is not poor, but rich in traditions, rituals and beliefs.
