Mode majeur de la fugue

Jennifer Cousin

11 & 12.11.2023
Sound performance

Martine, a farmer for fifty years, works hard for a living, never taking a day off. One day, however, while driving her tractor, she hears a philosophy programme on the radio that will have a profound impact on her. This is the beginning of a journey of emancipation which, through reading, will lead her to change her life.

Mode majeur de la fugue is Jennifer Cousin’s first creation. Cousin is an artist from Normandy who trained at INSAS. Mode majeur de la fugue was presented in a short version at Festival XS in 2022.

Supported by an original device – a hybrid form between acoustic performance, music and theatre – the piece combines two a priori distinct universes: the art world and the agricultural world. A polyphony that creates unexpected links.
