Les Enfants de la vallée

Mathias Simons
Les Ateliers de la Colline

Theatre – Younger audience

The rain falling, a sudden flood, lives overturned. Camille no longer speaks, since the time the water carried everything away: her home, her memories... and her dog, Larry.

Inspired by the testimonies and the workshops held in schools in the valleys of the Vesdre and the Ourthe after the floods in summer 2021, this performance gives a voice to those who are too rarely heard in the context of disasters: the children. The Ateliers de la Colline allow the words of these young witnesses to resonate, a mixture of pain and resilience. The stage becomes a place of remembrance, where questions are asked about the sources of these disasters and their consequences. Why did these water courses break free? How do we rebuild after the deluge? Speech released which finally gives voice to the lived experience of the youngest, and invites us to a shared dream about possible outcomes.
