PiratEs

Le chien qui tousse
Wootz

Swords in hand, two women fight tooth and nail to defend their boat in an adventure-packed spectacle brimming with energy. 2024 City of Huy Prize.

Two little-known historical figures from the world of piracy are brought back to life: Anne Bonny and Mary Read sailed together in the early eighteenth century to escape a fate already mapped out for them in the United Kingdom.

On stage, everything is in motion. The dynamic and inventive staging takes the audience along on a journey punctuated by clashes, chases, stunts and plot twists. Characters run, fall and get back up in this breathtaking production. PiratEs sweeps us up in a whirlwind of emotions and humour. But beneath the spirit of adventure, the play explores piracy as a space on the margins: a place where different rules apply and new possibilities can be imagined. The show also offers us a beautiful tale of emancipation, that of women who bravely carved out a place for themselves in a hostile world.

The performance on 26 March will be presented in a Relax format.
