As an associated artist at the Théâtre National, Clément Papachristou has for several years devised innovative offerings, with artists living with disabilities, as shown by his previous show Une tentative presque comme une autre. He also works to create workshop formats designed to bring out artistic potential and expression of talent in multiple paths and capabilities.

With a free, fantastical rewriting of The Divine Comedy, Justices follows Vincent, an artist with Down's syndrome, in an existential search through the circles of a graphical, pop-aesthetic hell. Ten scenes, each an ultra-colourful universe within a huge white box, follow one another on the stage, without a break, re-interpreted by the performers. There is no dark realism in this work, but instead an explosion of styles and atmospheres, in which cabaret, French song and interactive performance entwine. In this initiatory journey, Vincent confronts figures of oppression, inspired by the real world: arbitrary prohibitions, dominating perceptions, institutionalised validism. The audience members are invited to become involved, in order to question their own prejudices and ways of judging throughout a shared experience of radical freedom. Essentially, Justices is enjoying itself by shifting boundaries and rules.
