La Fabrique des yeux secs
Camille Louis
Laurie Bellanca
Enclosed within the myth of security, we have all become sick. Auto-immune conditions – including those known as dry eyes – in which the bodies of sufferers turn on themselves, are no longer the exception in collective health, but are rather a common feature of our exhausted, hyper-individualised societies. Rather than trying to escape from it, to cure oneself alone, by following new self-care therapies, or consuming the products of the pharmaceutical industry, which in fact only serve to fertilise the land that encourages the growth of these “too full of self” illnesses, how can one adapt to it, so as to harvest the methods and materials of new forms of shared care?
These are the questions that open up not only Camille Louis’s text, but also the fabric of experience offered with Laurie Bellanca. In her sound composition and interpretation, she raises up the multiple layers, at the crossroads of medical and geopolitical history, constitutive of both this genealogy and the recording of desirable future scenarios as depicted in the background.
