Would they have met, without the theatre? One grew up in a village in Berry, the daughter of Communist teachers. The other, youngest in a Catholic family, comfortably off, was born in Belgium. Their paths crossed at the Brussels Conservatoire. For although they came from completely opposing worlds, Magali Pinglaut and Valérie Bauchau both shared a love of the theatre. The piece was born from this unlikely, almost miraculous friendship, which challenges the obvious.
On the stage, they revisit the paths they have taken, blending personal memories, and great History. For the one, theatre is shown as a region of emancipation and deconstruction, in which othernesses can dialogue. For the other, it is to highlight the “humble ones” of families, especially the women who bear the social struggles.
In order to orchestrate this dual partition, they called on Isabelle Pousseur. A leading figure in theatrical direction, she brings her keen gaze and stage experience to the piece. Alongside her, Jean-Baptiste Delcourt completes the team, offering a valuable outsider perspective. Hence, Du côté de chez Elle(s) brilliantly celebrates the fertile friendships which leave their enduring mark.
