Pieuvre 1 + 2 & 3
Françoise Bloch
Zoo Théâtre
A long way from the usual conventions of theatre, Pieuvre 1 + 2 & 3 unfolds from a personal account, the start of an investigation within an intimate setting, with the audience guided as they wander through several areas of the stage.
Pieuvre 1 (Traces), starting from an anecdote – unless it is simply an event described as “tragic” –, probes the links between the personal, the historical and the political. In Pieuvre 2 (Fantômes), this same story is the source of a poetic reflection on the presence of the dead alongside the living, as well as on our need for stories, fiction and performance. Finally, in Pieuvre 3, the four actors/seekers taking part in the journey are seized by an apparently naïve question: can the theatre allow a dead person to respond to the questioning of the living?
The Pieuvre site draws its energy from a disappearance, and examines what is unsaid. At once rigorous and fun, humbly welcoming reflection, Pieuvre 1 + 2 unfolds as a solo, illustrated lecture, while Pieuvre 3 offers a collective exploration. These shapes are added together, and do not shy away from digressions.
